This year is set to hold potentially the biggest showdown we have seen in video game history. We see the returning champion in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. A game that has proven its popularity (ex. Modern Warfare 2 & Black Ops). There are many mixed feelings and emotions towards Call of Duty at this point in time. There are those that are the hardcore dedicated fans of the game. And there are the people with my thought process. I have chosen not to purchase Modern Warfare 3 because in my mind, Call of Duty feels old at this point. Each game doesn’t seem to do anything extremely innovative, its just the same game with some new weapons. Now of course this may be why people going back to Call of Duty. But after so long, a change is needed in my mind.
Now lets look at the competitor in Battlefield 3. DICE has teamed with EA to produce a game that has even millions of people waiting for the Beta to be released on September 29th just to get a slight glimpse of the full game. Why I have chosen to side with Battlefield 3 is a few reasons.
1.) Change is needed. Its been too long of Call of Duty being the only game around with a huge community.
2.) Call of Duty fans are annoying. When I used to play CoD, I would find myself quitting repeatedly because of team killers, campers, and people concerned with their stupid Kill Death ratio.
3.) Kids. Call of Duty is LOADED with little children because it seems parents dont care what their children are exposed to now-a-days. All I hear are those high pitch, obnoxious voices through my speakers. Enough!
4.) Team-Work. Battlefield has always been oriented around team-work and BF3 will be no different.
Im looking forward to this show-down, but there is one thing that needs to be clarified RIGHT NOW. The winner of the showdown is NOT who sells the most copies. We all know Modern Warfare 3 will sell more copies because CoD has been the reigning game for years. The winner between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 will be the game that is better overall.
So guess what my new, amazing, toy is? I finally have not only a super-phone, but potentially the best phone available on the market currently. The HTC Sensation comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. 8MP camera with 1080p HD video capabilities. A 4.3” anazing display. As well, it comes equipped with HTC Sense 3.0.
Exoect to see a full review on the phone in the coming week.
The first day of E3 2011 featured the heavy hitters of the entire conference. Potentially the two biggest games at the event are Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. Both games featured new trailers and demos. Both EA and Activision are flexing their guns to show what their respective games can pull-off.
Battlefield 3 showcased a new demo featuring an entire tank battalion battling in the Tehran desert. The full capabilities of Battlefield 3’s new engine, Frostbite 2, are shown within the demo. Amazing graphics from the dirt being pushed away from shockwaves. To the smoke that lingers in the air from all of the tank shells. You also can’t rule out the audio capabilities of the new engine. This game houses one of the best, if not the best, audio I have ever heard.
Modern Warfare 3 has so far released 2 demos featuring completely opposite levels. One of you invading a Russain submarine and proceeding to you making your way towards land. While the other features action on foot.
Both of these games look and sound amazing. But im putting my bet on Battlefield 3 being the better game this holiday season. Without even displaying the on-foot action of Battlefield 3, you could tell this game is ready to dominate the industry.
Microsoft made some pretty stellar announcements at their E3 conference this morning. Many Xbox 360 gamers will be pleased with all the announcements made. They started by showing the Kinect, the new onslaught of games it will receive, and the voice command feature being incorporated into gameplay. Microsoft then went on to reveal that an update to the Xbox 360 coming this Fall will bring television, Bing, and YouTube to the console.
After Minecraft was announced for the Xbox 360 this Winter. A massive bomb shell was dropped by Microsoft. Actually…two massive bomb shells. First up was the reiteration of the original Halo, Halo Combat Evolved. Well, they are re-releasing the game for the 10th anniversary of Halo on November 15th. You can expect to see the campaign completely revamped with todays graphics. As well, a multiplayer mode featuring the maps of the old days.
The final announcement was something many of us weren’t sure would ever happen…Halo 4 has been announced for a holiday 2012 release! Microsoft revealed a trailer displaying Master Chief being awaken by Cortana. The ship Chief was stowed away on in the end of Halo 3, was shown being sucked into an unbelievably huge structure. Somewhat resembling the Death Star from Star Wars. Halo 4 is apparently the beginning of a whole new trilogy in Master Chief’s story.
